This is whereyour work makes a difference.

At Baxter, we believe every person-regardless of who they are or where they are from-deserves a chance to live a healthy life. It was our founding belief in 1931 and continues to be our guiding principle. We are redefining healthcare delivery to make a greater impact today, tomorrow, and beyond.

Our Baxter colleagues are united by our Mission to Save and Sustain Lives. Together, our community is driven by a culture of courage, trust, and collaboration. Every individual is empowered to take ownership and make a meaningful impact. We strive for efficient and effective operations, and we hold each other accountable for delivering exceptional results.

Here, you will find more than just a job-you will find purpose and pride.

Your Role at Baxter

The Analyst, Real-World Data & Healthcare Analytics is a technical contributor within Baxter's Advanced Surgery Medical Affairs team. This role supports the generation of real-world evidence (RWE) by extracting, analyzing, and visualizing healthcare data to inform clinical and economic insights.

The primary focus is leveraging large-scale healthcare datasets-particularly the Premier Healthcare Database-to support evidence generation, value-based care initiatives, and product utilization analyses for Baxter's hemostats and sealants portfolio (e.g., Floseal, Tisseel).

This role partners closely with Medical Affairs and Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR) to translate complex data into actionable insights that support scientific communication, healthcare decision-making, and non-promotional clinical engagement.

What you'll be doing:

Real-World Data (RWD) Analysis & Engineering

  • Perform targeted data extractions from healthcare datasets (with a primary focus on the Premier Healthcare Database) using SQL

  • Clean, validate, and structure hospital-level data (EHR, chargemaster) to support RWE analyses

  • Develop and maintain reproducible data workflows and automated reporting pipelines

  • Ensure all datasets are audit-ready and compliant with Medical Affairs standards

HEOR & Value Evidence Support

  • Prepare datasets and conduct analyses to support budget impact models, cost-effectiveness studies, and value assessments

  • Analyze hospital cost and utilization data to support value-based care initiatives and optimization programs

  • Contribute to evidence generation supporting clinical and economic value narratives

Data Visualization & Insight Delivery

  • Build and maintain interactive dashboards (Power BI or Tableau) to track product utilization, waste, and adoption across surgical specialties

  • Translate complex datasets into clear, actionable insights for cross-functional stakeholders

  • Support development of data-driven reports for internal decision-making and scientific engagement

Medical Affairs Scientific Support

  • Support RWE generation for scientific presentations, publications, and medical education initiatives

  • Fulfill data requests from Medical Affairs leadership to support clinical insight generation

  • Operate within a non-promotional, scientifically rigorous framework

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure all data activities comply with HIPAA, FDA guidance, and Baxter policies

  • Maintain high standards of data integrity, transparency, and reproducibility

What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Health Informatics, Statistics, Economics, Life Sciences, or related field

  • Hands-on experience working with the Premier Healthcare Database

  • 1-2+ years of experience working with healthcare data (EHR, claims, or hospital datasets)

  • Proficiency in SQL; experience with R or Python for data analysis

  • Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI or Tableau)

  • Working knowledge of healthcare coding systems (ICD-10, CPT/HCPCS, DRG)

  • Up to 20% travel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in RWE, HEOR, or healthcare analytics within MedTech, Pharma, or consulting

  • Experience supporting economic modeling or value-based care analyses

  • Familiarity with clinical research or Medical Affairs environments

Key Competencies

  • Analytical Rigor: Ability to transform complex healthcare data into high-quality, reproducible outputs

  • Translational Insight: Communicates technical findings in clinically and economically meaningful ways

  • Collaboration: Works effectively across Medical Affairs, HEOR, and cross-functional teams

  • Attention to Detail: Ensures accuracy and compliance in all data processes

Why This Role Matters

This position plays a critical role in strengthening Baxter's real-world evidence capabilities by enabling data-driven clinical and economic insights that support better decision-making, improved patient outcomes, and responsible healthcare resource utilization.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $96,000.00 to $132,000.00 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position.
