Job description

JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Lab Assistant I (Necrospy) to support laboratory operations in a dynamic research environment. This entry-level position plays an important role in maintaining laboratory organization, supporting sample management activities, assisting with study preparation, and ensuring compliance with established quality and safety standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in scientific research, laboratory operations, or the life sciences industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean, sterilize, organize, and distribute laboratory glassware and equipment.
  • Support laboratory setup, housekeeping, and general organization.
  • Label and prepare collection tubes and materials for laboratory activities.
  • Process and organize biological samples for future analysis.
  • Assist with sample storage, archiving, and inventory management.
  • Monitor and document equipment, refrigerator, and freezer temperatures.
  • Support preparation for research study activities and animal arrivals, including equipment and supply readiness.
  • Maintain laboratory supplies, personal protective equipment (PPE), and other inventory items.
  • Assist with data entry, documentation, record maintenance, and report preparation.
  • Operate basic laboratory equipment and perform routine maintenance activities.
  • Transport laboratory materials and supplies between facilities as needed.
  • Follow Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and all applicable safety requirements.

The pay range for this position is $18-$21 per hour.  Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to follow written procedures and work accurately in a regulated environment.

Preferred

  • Previous laboratory, animal care, manufacturing, healthcare, or research experience.
  • Familiarity with laboratory practices and safety procedures.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the workday.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to work safely in a laboratory and research environment.

Work Environment

  • This position is based in a laboratory and research setting. Employees may work with laboratory equipment, biological materials, research animals, and regulated substances while following established safety and compliance procedures.
  • Occasional overtime, weekend, holiday, or off-shift coverage may be required to support business needs.
