The Idaho Department of Lands (IDL) is seeking a full-time Financial Technician - Accounts Payable. This position will be located at our Boise Staff Office in Boise, ID.

Description
To perform a variety of para-professional financial duties including developing and maintaining records, documents, reports and financial data; review financial documents and records; perform some entry level accounting, bookkeeping or audit functions; and perform related work.
Responsibilities:

• Dependable attendance Monday thru Friday with flexible hours to accomplish workload.
• Independently perform specialized financial record keeping, maintenance, review, verification, and support functions.
• Use organization skills and bookkeeping methods and procedures to prepare work, spreadsheets, standardize summaries and reports to meet deadlines.
• Use automated systems and system software to enter, retrieve and edit financial data and prepare financial documents.
• Research accounting systems and records to identify and correct errors in financial transactions.
• Assist with explaining and applying policies, procedures or regulations, and in determining if financial data meets compliance standards.
• Audit the following to be properly coded and authorized: vendor invoices, travel reimbursements, intercompany invoices, Purchase Order and Contract to Invoice verifications.
• Professional customer service skills for the following: follow-up on outstanding payments and inbound and outbound phone calls and emails to outside customers and internal IDL staff.
• Participate in special projects as needed.
• Update desk reference manual as procedures change.

Minimum Qualifications
Some Knowledge of:

• Financial Record Keeping

Experience:

• Researching and compiling financial information and preparing summaries and reports; using personal computers to enter, retrieve, and edit financial data

Desired Qualifications

• Good knowledge of accounting principles and practices applied daily.
• Exposure to complex data.
• Professional experience using a personal computer to navigate multiple systems to meet deadlines, research and compile financial information.
• Intermediate to Advanced MS Excel, Word, and Adobe software.
• Professional organizational skills.
• Prior professional work requiring monthly deadlines.

Under the direction of the Idaho State Board of Land Commissioners, IDL manages more than 2.5 million acres of state endowment trust land under a constitutional mandate to produce maximum long-term financial returns for public schools and several other State of Idaho institutions. Leases and other contracts are used to authorize revenue generating activities such as timber harvest, grazing, farming, mining, commercial use, residential use, and conservation in a prudent and sustainable manner.
Managing endowment trust lands is only part of our story. We also protect public resources such as water quality, fish, wildlife habitat, and recreation on navigable waterways, and ensure the protection of water quality and other resources by overseeing forestry and mining practices across all ownerships in the state. We also work to reclaim abandoned mines in Idaho. One of our most important resource protection responsibilities is fire prevention and suppression. We also aid landowners in managing their forest lands, work with communities to plant trees in urban settings, help keep working forests working through the Forest Legacy Program, and work with many partners to promote healthy forests on a landscape level. IDL also is the administrative arm of the Idaho Oil and Gas Conservation Commission.
