Job description

Job Title: General Clerk I - Support
Client: Heavy Machine Manufacturing Industry
Duration: 13 Months
Location: Milan, IL 61264
Shift: 2nd shift position - 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM

Description:
Under direct supervision, performs entry-level clerical office duties such as data entry, document imaging or processing, and filing. Responds to standard inquiries and refers complex requests to appropriate staff members.
Duties:
  • Proofreads records for clarity and completeness in accordance with defined procedures.
  • Enters data from standard forms and reports into appropriate systems, spreadsheets, or databases.
  • Prepares a variety of documents for processing by others; may include scanning, filing, collating, or indexing records to ensure information is readily retrievable.
  • Responds to standard inquiries from internal and external customers. Refers complex requests to appropriate staff members.

Specific Position Requirements:
  • Onsite
  • Candidate must have metatarsals on day one. Will be on their feet the majority of the shift.
  • HS diploma/equivalent required, but 2-year degree with 3-4 years' experience in a similar role strongly preferred.
  • Will be doing a lot of data entry; data entry of pick ticket stubs into DNS screens and serving as backup to Printer room and BOL clerks tasks.

Critical Skills Required:
  • Exceptional data entry speed/accuracy plus ability to stay focused and perform work for long periods of time.
  • Acts as customer service for the warehouse, manages 11 printers with a sense of urgency, and is able to quickly navigate multiple computer systems.
  • Must be self-motivated to help coworkers during lull times.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and ability to work with varying types of personalities is necessary.
  • Administrative background and experience in a warehouse/shipping office environment and familiarity with shipping material, DOT regulations, and their relationship. Manager does not want to see individuals who have all floor/warehouse/forklift/etc. experience; this person needs to have worked in an admin role.
  • Will be working in Excel occasionally, but the majority of work will be in the client's mainframe/menu-driven systems, DNS (Dealer Network System), and WCS.
  • Experience with inventory systems/tools/AS400 program is extremely beneficial in this role; will be troubleshooting through inventory issues.
  • Attention to detail, timeliness, and excellent attendance are key as this position is imperative in keeping the operation running. Could be working at driver window or bursting tickets and distributing work/equipment.
  • Will train as backup to cover all duties of the position in the department, including BOL, customs document creation, handling the will-call window, and responding to requests from warehouse supervisors and others within the organization.
  • Could drive a gator through facilities.
