Accounting Associate

This is an entry-level role designed for someone starting their accounting career. You will learn our AP and AR cycles end to end with direct guidance from the Controller. Success in this role means enjoying a small office environment, interacting comfortably with staff at all levels, staying flexible and resourceful, and handling sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality.


Job Description:

Accounts Payable

·         Process and enter vendor invoices accurately and on time.

·         Process weekly check runs.

·         Respond to vendor inquiries about invoice and payment status.

·         Reconcile vendor statements.

Accounts Receivable

·         Prepare, review, and submit daily/weekly invoices.

·         Data entry into accounts receivable system.

·         Apply customer payments and remittance advices to open invoices.

·         Submit invoices through customer billing portals as required.

·         Reconcile payments to pending Accounts Receivables.

General

·         Collaborate with other departments to complete accurate records and provide accounting support.

·         Perform other duties as assigned by the Controller, with training and support provided.

Requirements

·         Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent coursework/experience; 0–2 years of professional experience.

·         Exposure to billing or invoicing is a plus.

·         Willingness to learn Sage accounting software; prior exposure is a plus.

·         Able to identify and correct financial discrepancies.

·         Organized and reliable about meeting deadlines.

·         Strong working knowledge of Excel and the rest of MS Office.

·         Communicates clearly in writing and in person.

·         Detail-oriented, with a can-do attitude on a team and working independently.

·         Eagerness to learn and grow into broader accounting responsibilities.

·         Enjoys collaborating with the accounting team and colleagues across the company.

Job Type: Full-time. This is an in-office position in Warrenton, Virginia


Hourly Rate: $20-23/hour DOE; plus benefits


Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
