Entry-Level Welding Inspector / NDT Technician — Birmingham, AL and Tuscaloosa, AL

Starting pay $18.00 - $24.00/hour depending on experience

TTL is looking for entry-level welding inspectors and non-destructive testing technicians in Birmingham and Tuscaloosa, Alabama. This role supports projects throughout Alabama, performing construction inspections that include evaluating, monitoring and testing to deliver accurate data and high-quality service to our clients. In this position, you will play a key role in nondestructive testing and special inspections, helping ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards and project specifications.

Welding experience or welding school would be a plus but not a required.Even if you don’t have experience or certifications, TTL will train you and pay for your training and certification courses. What You'll Do

  • Performs visual testing (VT) of structural welds to verify compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications
  • Conducts nondestructive testing (NDT), including Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), and Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)
  • Performs coating inspections and testing to ensure adherence to applicable industry standards and specifications
  • Inspects structural steel and bolted connections for compliance with relevant codes and project requirements
  • Follows established procedures, performs accurate calculations and documentation, and maintains effective working relationships with coworkers, clients, and contractors
  • Prepares detailed daily inspection reports and client documentation; operates with moderate supervision


Requirements:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; college coursework or degree preferred with emphasis in welding, construction, physical sciences or math
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients and team members
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a clean driving record
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting up to 50+ lbs
  • Must be able to work in outdoor environments in varying weather conditions, including heat and cold
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use related technology and software
  • Ability to safely operate aerial lifts and work at heights as required
