Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and agile Controls and Automation Engineer to join our Greensboro Swing Road Plant (North Carolina) team. This role will contribute to the design, development, and implementation of control systems and automation solutions for our manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of electrical theory and control systems, control theory, automation technologies, and an eagerness to learn and apply intelligent systems to enhance operational efficiency, product quality, and safety. This position offers an excellent opportunity for growth and development within the field of industrial automation and electrical and instrumentation control systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production Support: Primary intelligent controls & automation (ICA) point of contact for a high-speed filling and packaging line. Daily support of ICA related issues utilizing electrical and controls knowledge. Utilizes data analytics to develop insight into problem resolution and control system improvements.

  • Control System Support:Assist in the development and implementation of control strategies for manufacturing processes, focusing on performance, reliability, and safety.

  • Electrical Support:Resolution of electrical issues by utilizing electrical skills to correct production issues. (Will need to become Low Voltage Qualified in the role. < 1000 VAC)

  • AutomationDevelopment:Support the design and programming of automation solutions using PLCs, SCADA systems, and other control technologies to streamline operations and improve productivity.

  • Intelligent Systems Assistance:Contribute to the implementation of data analytics, machine learning algorithms, and AI-driven solutions to enhance process control and decision-making under guidance.

  • Collaborative Projects:Work closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, maintenance, and engineering to identify and support automation opportunities.

  • System Monitoring & Troubleshooting:Participate in performance analysis and troubleshooting of existing control systems, identifying areas for improvement.

  • Documentation & Compliance:Assist in preparing technical documentation, including system specifications and user manuals. Ensure electrical and automation systems adhere to industry standards and regulations, fostering a culture of safety in engineering practices.

Job Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • BS/MS in Engineering (e.g., Electrical, Power, Controls, or Automation Engineering).

  • Basic understanding of process and/or machine control concepts.

  • Familiarity with sensors, motors, PLCs, and industrial automation principles.

  • Ability to work in person at our Greensboro, NC facility.

PREFERRED:

  • An Electrical Engineering degree is preferred.

  • Exposure to Rockwell Control Logix platforms or similar industrial control systems.

  • Basic knowledge of computer and industrial networks.

  • Experience with data analysis tools or programming languages (e.g., Python, R) for automation applications.
