About This Role

The Uncrewed Land and Air Systems team in Hunt Valley is seeking an entry-level Systems Engineer I who is eager to learn, grow, and support development of innovative robotics and unmanned systems. In this role, you will participate in engineering activities across the full product life cycle including requirements support, integration assistance, testing, and fielding of solutions for defense and commercial customers. You will work closely with experienced engineers while developing foundational skills in systems engineering, requirements analysis, and hardware/software integration.

Responsibilities:

  • Engineering Design and Development:
    • Assist in systems engineering tasks throughout the product lifecycle under mentorship from senior engineers.
    • Support requirements analysis activities by reviewing customer needs and helping maintain requirement documentation.
    • Participate in developing conceptual designs alongside crossfunctional engineering teams.
    • Use requirements management and test tools to decompose program requirements.
  • Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE):
    • Learn and apply MBSE methodologies and tools (e.g., SysML) with guidance from senior team members.
    • Contribute to maintaining system models and ensuring they align with system requirements and architecture.
  • Systems Integration and Testing:
    • Support handson integration activities for Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs) and Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAVs).
    • Assist in creating and executing integration test procedures.
    • Help collect and organize test data for review and analysis by senior engineers.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work daily with technical leads, engineers, technicians, and program staff.
    • Support preparation of engineering documentation and contribute to internal reviews.
    • Collaborate across departments to ensure project alignment and smooth execution.
  • Project Management and Technical Direction:
    • Participate in Integrated Product Teams to assist in designing new capabilities.
    • Help manage and maintain system requirements and derived requirements.
    • Contribute to drafting system and functional requirements under direction from senior.
  • Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor's Degree (Degree in systems engineering preferred)
    • 0-2 years of related engineering experience (internships or coops welcome).
  • Technical Skills:
    • Foundational understanding of hardware and/or software systems.
    • Exposure to requirements management, engineering tools, or modeling software is preferred.
    • Familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink, SysML, Cameo/MagicDraw, JIRA, or similar tools is a plus.
    • Ability to learn documentation of system and subsystem designs using standard drawing or diagram tools.
    • Exposure to Department of Defense environments is beneficial but not required.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a teambased environment.
    • Curious, selfmotivated, and eager to learn engineering processes and tools.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio).
  • Other Requirements:
    • Ability to travel up to 10-15%.
    • Active Secret Clearance preferred; Secret Clearance eligibility required.
