Job description

We are seeking a Data Analyst / Data Systems Analyst to support data collection, management, reporting, statistical analysis, and database-related activities. The ideal candidate will have strong SQL and Tableau skills, experience working with large and complex datasets, and the ability to translate analytical findings into clear business and statistical reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze large and complex datasets to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain data reports, dashboards, graphs, and longitudinal flowcharts.
  • Perform statistical and business analysis, including calculations such as means, proportions, rates, and aggregated statistical evaluations.
  • Gather, interpret, validate, and maintain data for analytical, policy, and business purposes.
  • Develop and execute SQL queries and support database creation and maintenance.
  • Identify data quality, consistency, and completeness issues and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Develop standards and processes for effective data acquisition, management, quality, and utilization.
  • Provide technical assistance and database support to business partners and end users.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements and develop functional and technical specifications.
  • Translate complex analytical and technical information into clear, understandable reports for nontechnical audiences.
  • Support data systems used for monitoring, reporting, and program/project effectiveness.
  • Apply data collection, research, workflow, and statistical analysis methodologies.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with applicable data security, privacy, and information-management requirements.
  • Support project management activities related to data analysis and system initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience with SQL, Tableau, Google, FOCUS, Excel, Visio, OnBase, and other data management applications.
  • Strong analytical and statistical analysis skills.
  • Experience working with databases, including creating basic databases and queries.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret large datasets.
  • Strong data quality and validation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to communicate complex information to technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Experience providing technical support to business users.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Management, or a closely related field.
  • Experience with SAS (Statistical Analysis System) and R.
  • Experience with Tableau and advanced SQL.
  • Experience with public-sector, healthcare, surveillance, or program data systems.
