Position Overview:
As part of Ascot's Actuarial business unit, the Actuarial Data Analyst, Captives will work on critical "run the business" core services such as data manipulation and querying, template creation, tool support, and business intelligence (reporting). You will support the Portfolio and Alternative Risk Transfer actuarial group that is responsible for pricing captives and insurance programs. You will be responsible for building data pipelines, running, and maintaining scripts. You will also assist the actuarial team in building out reports that highlight our Pricing KPIs, empower the team to work efficiently with large data sets, and where applicable leverage third party data. You will be joining a team of experienced actuaries that have tackled these problems in similar environments and have established best practices. This role will work in the office on a hybrid (at least 3 times per week) work schedule.
Responsibilities:
  • Ensure data capture from various pricing tools are stored in our data warehouse
  • Use R, Python, and SQL to build data pipelines and reports to monitor portfolio health
  • Normalize data for consistency to the data warehouse and collaborate with other functional areas to improve data quality and consistency
  • Manage database interactions to create robust exhibits and corresponding visualizations
  • Work with actuarial partners in building analytical tools to support underwriters
  • Assist with ad hoc projects as needed and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing culture aligned with The Ascot Way

Requirements:
  • Strong experience in multiple languages: SQL, VBA, R, and Python
  • Experience building Data Visualization reports in PowerBI or Tableau a plus
  • Bachelor's degree with strong academic performance
  • Insurance industry experience is preferred, but not required
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a data analyst and/or strong data skills achieved as part of an Insurance, IT, Finance, Data, or Math curriculum
  • Excel experience in an analytical environment. Prior work experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail and verifying data, maintaining high levels of accuracy.
  • Respect and manage deadlines

  • Strong collaborative skills in a fast-paced team-centric environment

Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to experience, subject matter expertise, and skills. The base pay is just one component of Ascot's total compensation package for employees.
