Duties
Help

• Serve as an expert data engineer on a U.S. Army Cyber Protection Team (CPT) Support Element.
• Evaluate adversarial activity within complex network systems to present strategic recommendations to mission commanders for defensive cyber operations planning.
• Configure distributed databases and data repositories to automatically ingest, process, and normalize streaming data.
• Design relational and structured query language/non-structured query language (NoSQL) databases to automate extract, load, and transform functions for data collection.
• Apply science-based analytical processes to produce terrain mapping and modeling visualizations for targeted hunt operations.
• Identify relevant internal and external data sources to ensure information usage complies with regulatory and security policies.
• Provide technical direction and guidance to support team members in executing data-informed defensive cyber operations.
• Attend Sensitive Compartmented Information meetings and working groups to which require access to Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information materials, equipment, and facilities.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access for the duration of employment.
• This position is classified as information technology access level Information Technology- I (Privileged User) and Sensitivity Matrix for Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), Tier 5.
• The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter.
• This position requires the incumbent be required to successfully complete an initial and periodic Counter Intelligence-scope Polygraph (CI Poly) examination with No Deception Indicated (NDI).
• Incumbent may be assigned to work in a National Security Agency (NSA) facility and must be able to obtain and maintain access to NSA facilities and networks.
• Duties of this position may entail alternative work schedules (AWS) such as variable or MAXIFLEX, including extended shifts; 24/7 rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and/or and holidays as required.
• The employee is subject to recall for urgent situations; and/or working extended overtime in response to surge situations.
• This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 30% of the time annually, within the Contiguous United States (CONUS) or Outside the Contiguous United States (OCONUS).
• All Team employees are subject to extended Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) during crisis situations to perform mission essential functions as determined by management, which may include deployment, immunizations, passport, and related requirements.
• TDY may occur at austere or hazardous locations mission dependent.
• Incumbent may be required to carry a cellular telephone/Portable Electronic Device (PED) and maintain a working personal telephone at all times.
• Incumbent is required to successfully complete all applicable preparation courses, training, and comply with the Career Management Field's training certification policy.
• This position is subject to situational or ad hoc telework. A telework agreement is required.
• This position has been designated mission essential. Incumbent may be required to remain on duty or report for duty during severe weather or other installation closings.
• Incumbent may be required to work overtime and other than normal duty hours which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Call back and emergency duty are regular requirements of this position.
• Incumbent must obtain and maintain the Cyberspace Workforce Qualifications requirements in accordance with DoDM 8140.03 and supplemental Army guidance.
• This position has a requirement to lift up to 30 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below for each applicable grade level you wish to be considered. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Computer Engineer and Electronics Engineer:
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); OR (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.
OR
B. Combination of Education and Experience: College-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following:
1. Professional registration or licensure - Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Absent other means of qualifying under this standard, those applicants who achieved such registration by means other than written test (e.g., State grandfather or eminence provisions) are eligible only for positions that are within or closely related to the specialty field of their registration. For example, an applicant who attains registration through a State Board's eminence provision as a manufacturing engineer typically would be rated eligible only for manufacturing engineering positions.
2. Written Test - Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination, or any other written test required for professional registration, by an engineering licensure board in the various States, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
3. Specified academic courses - Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and that included the courses specified in A above. The courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of an engineering program.
4. Related curriculum - Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least 1 year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
Basic Requirement for Operations Research Analyst:
Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in operations research; or a degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.
Basic Requirement for Computer Scientist:
Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in computer science or bachelor's degree (or higher degree) with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus.

To qualify based on your education and/or experience, your resume must describe one-year of specialized experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience would be demonstrated by
GG-07: Formatting datasets using standard software applications to complete elementary administrative assignments; and compiling information to help generate routine reports.

Education
Substitution of Education for Experience: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Computer Engineering, Computer Science, and/or Mathematics.

Superior Academic Achievement: In order to be creditable under this provision, Superior Academic Achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled, such as that identified in Education above. Superior Academic Achievement is based on:
(1) Class Standing - Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses; OR
(2) Grade-Point Average (G.P.A.) - Applicants must have a grade-point average of either (a) 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on your official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or (b) 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum.; OR
