What does an entry level crime scene cleaner do?

An entry level crime scene cleaner is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing areas where crimes, accidents, or traumatic events have occurred. Their duties include removing hazardous materials, biohazards like blood and bodily fluids, and ensuring that affected areas are safe for future use. They follow strict safety guidelines and often work in challenging and emotionally difficult environments. Entry level cleaners typically receive specialized training on proper cleaning techniques, the use of personal protective equipment, and compliance with local regulations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an entry level crime scene cleaner?

To thrive as an Entry Level Crime Scene Cleaner, you need a high school diploma or equivalent, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of health and safety protocols. Familiarity with personal protective equipment (PPE), cleaning chemicals, and basic biohazard handling certifications such as OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens is often required. Soft skills like emotional resilience, discretion, and teamwork help individuals excel in sensitive and challenging environments. These skills and qualities are crucial to ensure safe, thorough site restoration while maintaining professionalism and emotional well-being.
