Job description

Description:

SHINE Technologies is seeking an Entry Level R&D Chemist to develop and implement activities and experiments related to radiochemical separation techniques and processes to support the commercialization of spent nuclear fuel reprocessing and transmutation.

The base salary range for this position is $60,000 - $65,000 per year plus a comprehensive compensation package. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.


Duties and Responsibilities of the Entry Level R&D Chemist:

  • Perform experimental and prototyping activities involving chemical and radiochemical handling, processing, sampling, and analysis.
  • Develop experimental designs, test plans, and operating procedures for chemical and radiochemical processes.
  • Conduct liquid-liquid extraction, ion exchange chromatography, and other separation processes involving actinides, lanthanides, and fission products.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data and document results in technical reports and presentations.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and analytical instrumentation.
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
Requirements:
  • B.S. in chemistry or related scientific discipline.
  • Willingness to be “hands on” with new technologies in a laboratory environment.
  • Ability to plan and execute experiments, analyze data, and document results.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

Eligibility for employment is conditioned on the applicant’s ability to qualify for access to information subject to U.S. Export Controls. Additionally, applicant’s eligibility may be conditioned based upon meeting the Nuclear Regulatory Commission requirements for access to Safeguards Information, which typically requires a pre-employment drug screen, fingerprinting and criminal background check.
