Job description

✍️ Write Copy That Sells for a Top 5 US Amazon Seller - and Love Where You Work

Role: Entry Level Copywriter - Amazon & Ecommerce - San Diego, CA
Location: Onsite, five days a week, at Symphony Towers in downtown San Diego. You must already live in San Diego County. We do not offer relocation assistance, hybrid, or remote schedules for this role.
Compensation Range: $50,000-$60,000 DOE

At Luminize, we help brands win, and as one of the top 5 Amazon sellers in the US, we're looking for top performers to grow with us.

We're shaping brand stories, driving scalable growth, and setting new standards for what performance looks like on the world's biggest retail platform. We're looking for a Copywriter to create engaging, high-converting Amazon content that drives clicks, boosts rankings, and wins customers. This is a craft seat for someone who wants to get genuinely good at making a stranger buy something in two hundred characters, working with AI as part of the workflow rather than around it. You'll work closely with marketing, design, and brand teams to bring product stories to life.

What You'll Be Doing

  • ✍️ Write persuasive, conversion-focused copy for Amazon product detail pages (PDPs), Brand Stores, and ads, including SEO-rich titles, item highlights, bullet points, and descriptions.
  • Use keyword research from our analytics team to craft optimized, search-friendly copy.
  • Use AI to move faster on research, scaffolding, and bulk formatting, while keeping voice and final judgment yours.
  • Maintain brand voice while following Amazon's content and compliance guidelines.
  • Collaborate with Brand Managers, Content Managers, and Designers to deliver on-time, high-quality projects.
  • Own listing optimization: audit and update live listings for accuracy, performance, and compliance.
  • Stay ahead of trends in Amazon SEO, ranking algorithms, and category-specific requirements.

What Success Looks Like

You'll succeed here if you can turn product research, competitor analysis, customer reviews, and marketplace insights into clear, persuasive copy across Amazon titles, item highlights, bullet points, product descriptions, image carousels, A+ Content, Brand Stories, and Brand Stores. You know how to uncover the strongest USPs, benefits, features, and differentiators, and translate them into messaging designed to improve click-through rate (CTR) and conversion rate (CVR).

You're both creative and analytical, combining strong writing with customer insights, performance data, and A/B testing to continuously optimize Amazon listings and make the next version better than the last.

✅ What You Bring

Required

  • ✍️ You have written commercial copy that shipped. Product or category pages, e-commerce content, emails, ads, landing pages, headlines, published articles. Professional, freelance, or a serious personal or school project all count.
  • A portfolio or two to three writing samples you can share with your application. This is how we evaluate writers, so please include it.
  • You have written something whose job was to get found in a search result, on any platform, and you know whether it worked.
  • You already write with AI in your workflow and you know what to hand it and what to keep.
  • You live in San Diego County and can be in our downtown office five days a week.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, and you take an edit without taking it personally.

Nice to have, genuinely not required

  • Amazon copywriting experience, or familiarity with Seller Central, Vendor Central, A+ Content or Brand Story
  • Keyword tools like Helium 10, Data Dive or Jungle Scout
  • Project management tools like Asana

Education & Experience

A degree in English, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Advertising, or a related field can be helpful, but it's not required. Demonstrated ability matters more to us than your major.

Recent graduates and early-career writers are encouraged to apply. If you can demonstrate strong writing, research, critical thinking, and an interest in e-commerce, we can teach you the Amazon-specific side of the role. The portfolio is how you demonstrate it, so please include one even if the work is from school, freelance, or personal projects.

We have hired two copywriters into this seat and neither of them had written for Amazon before. We will teach you the platform. We cannot teach you to write.

Is This You?

You might currently be, or recently have been:

  • An E-commerce or Ecommerce Copywriter
  • A Product Copywriter, writing product copy or product detail pages
  • A Digital Copywriter, SEO Copywriter, or Conversion Copywriter
  • A Content Writer at an agency, brand, retailer, or publisher
  • A marketing or advertising coordinator who does most of the actual writing
  • A recent English, Journalism, Marketing, or Communications grad with a portfolio and a real interest in e-commerce

If your title isn't on that list but you write persuasive copy for a living and want to do it on the biggest retail platform in the world, apply anyway.

You'll be based in Symphony Towers, one of San Diego's premier office spaces, which offers:

  • Stunning views of the city and coastline
  • Free access to the building gym
  • Discounts at restaurants and cafes in the tower
  • Secure bike racks in the building and 24/7 paid parking in a nearby downtown structure
  • Close walking distance to 100+ of the top bars, restaurants, and coffee shops

Our office is designed for comfort, productivity, and collaboration, featuring:

  • Ergonomic standing desks and high-quality workstations
  • A fully stocked snack bar, espresso machine, and cold drinks
  • A welcoming team lounge area and sunny workspaces
  • A clean, modern space where we can do our best work together

Benefits & Perks
Our people are our #1 priority. Our benefits include:

  • Multiple medical plan options through Anthem Blue Cross
  • Dental & vision insurance (including orthodontia and annual exams)
  • Pet benefit program with savings on vet care, products, and services
  • Paid vacation (accruing up to 120+ hours/year with rollover and cap)
  • 401k with % matching
  • Paid holidays annually
  • Coverage for spouses/domestic partners and dependents under 26
  • Benefits begin on the first of the month after your hire date

Compensation Transparency
We've listed a range of $50,000-$60,000/year to account for varying levels of experience and skill. Where you land depends on how your background aligns with this role, and we're happy to have open conversations about it throughout the process.

Growth in This Role
This is a hands-on writing seat, and it stays one. Growth here means bigger brands, harder categories, more ownership of voice, and getting genuinely good at the specific craft of making someone buy something in two hundred characters. We have leveling guidelines, we promote from within, and we will pay for the courses you want. What we are looking for is someone who wants to be a much better writer in three years, not someone who wants to be doing something else.

You'll also benefit from:

  • Mentorship from experienced managers and senior copywriters during 1:1s and annual performance reviews
  • A close working relationship with Brand Management, Design, and Catalog, so you see how your copy performs and why
  • Learning resources, including Udemy course access, and additional training programs and courses
  • A culture that encourages asking questions, trying new things, and leveling up together

If you're excited to take real ownership of your craft and get measurably better at it, you'll be in good company here.
