Entry level Metallurgist
PERFORM METALLOGRAPHIC ANALYSIS FOR OUR GROWING ERIE, PA LAB!
Modern’s Materials Research Division is growing and needs help in our accredited lab for metallurgy and materials research. Use your Metallurgical / Materials Science degree to start and grow your career!
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Provide metallographic analysis, test specifications, failure analysis, and more to insure materials lab productivity.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Metallographic sample preparation including cutting, mounting, polishing and etching specimens in accordance with appropriate procedures
  • Perform microstructural evaluation.
  • Maintain flow through prep and metallography to promote efficiency.
  • Evaluate, develop, and fine-tune test methods.
  • Organize and maintain lab equipment through preventative maintenance.
  • Participate in improvement projects and problem-solving.

Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities):
  • Knowledge of basic metallurgy.
  • At least three (3) years of metallography equipment operation and analysis experience, OR a degree in a related field.
  • Experience with micro-hardness testing and digital photography required
  • Hands-on experience
  • Good communication and computer skills.
