Job Description

Develops basic Roadway Engineering design components for assigned client projects based on the client's needs as they relate to the planning, execution, and delivery of transportation plans and/or roadway designs. Works under the direct supervision of a registered professional engineer to develop an in-depth knowledge of Transportation Engineering principles, roadway design techniques, and industry standards/procedures to effectively produce plans, specifications, and cost estimates for public works projects.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develops basic roadway geometric design and related tasks by researching, analyzing, selecting, and applying engineering concepts, approaches, techniques, and criteria.

  • Prepares layout drawings, construction details, design calculations, and reports for assigned Transportation Engineering projects.

  • Develops engineering project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans, presenting to management.

  • Documents engineering calculations and decisions by maintaining all applicable reports in the assigned forms and/or databases.

  • Applies functional knowledge of Transportation Engineering regulatory requirements to ensure roadway engineering designs comply with relevant engineering standards, guidelines, and regulations.

  • Develops roadway engineering job knowledge by attending training sessions, reading technical publications, and working closely with registered professional engineers.

  • Basic awareness of digital literacy skills.

  • Engineers in Training-EIT Certification Ability to obtain license within 1 year of hire date within 1 Year Preferred.

  • Must be competent in using Microsoft Office software (i.e. Word, Excel)

  • Knowledge of Bentley Microstation or Openroads preferred

  • Ability to travel 5% of the time.
