Job description

The Department of Computer Science at Ithaca College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, starting August 2026. We seek a dynamic teacher-scholar committed to undergraduate education and to contributing to the continued evolution of our collaborative and forward-looking computer science program.

Applicants from all areas of computer science are welcome, with particular encouragement for those specializing in artificial intelligence, human-computer interaction, media-focused computation, computer systems, or cybersecurity. This is an exciting time to join our department. We are in the process of launching new majors in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, as well as new minors in Artificial Intelligence, App Development, Data-Centric Computing, and Computer Systems. New faculty will have the opportunity to shape and teach in these programs, and to develop courses aligned with their own areas of expertise.

Our department emphasizes small class sizesclose faculty-student collaboration, and project-based learning. Faculty are empowered to take initiative, contribute to shared governance, and help guide the direction of the department. We pride ourselves on a strong culture of collegiality and consensus-driven decision-making.

Ithaca College supports a healthy work-life balance and provides resources for both teaching and research, including startup and travel fundinginternal grant programs, and the Summer Scholars undergraduate research initiative. Our facilities include dedicated research spacesactive-learning classrooms, and spacious faculty offices co-located with our classrooms. Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field is required. We welcome applicants with teaching experience and a strong commitment to preparing students professionally through an immersive, interdisciplinary liberal arts education. Recent doctoral candidates who are ABD (All But Dissertation) are also encouraged to apply.

Hiring Range:

$80,000 - $85,000, dependent on discipline, qualifications and experience.
