What does it mean to be a Software Developer at GLS?
As a Software Developer, you will develop cutting-edge software - from building integration microservices and productivity tools to real-time credit engines, web services, and end-user applications. You will work on projects that will allow you to build automation and interfaces that make GLS a world-class company.
 
How will you drive value within the organization as a Software Developer?
  • Execute the full software development life cycle (SDLC)
  • Develop server-side code for high-volume web-based applications; use (Javascript, HTML, CSS, etc.. ) to create and develop web user interfaces
  • Use object-oriented programming languages (Python, C#, Java, etc.) to create robust, scalable, automation solutions to save time and resources and/or increase profitability
  • Interpret data, and analyze results using structured query language (SQL); modify XML data using XPATH,XSLT; share data between services using JSON
  • Document tasks, applications, and systems; participate in peer code reviews; develop and execute test plans; perform load-testing; implement changes; do feature validations
  • Continue education to stay up to date on emerging technologies and best practices; identify ideas to improve system performance and availability
  • Develop performance monitoring tools, troubleshoot, and debug existing systems; work with experienced team members to conduct root cause analysis
What should you already have to be successful as a Software Developer?
  • External candidates require a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering with a Software focus, or a related field
  • Proficient computer skills and ability to quickly learn new computer applications as required. Working knowledge of SQL and/or Python preferred
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills while presenting ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language
  • Intrinsically motivated with demonstrated ability to take initiative, identify needs, make recommendations for improvement, see recommendations through implementation, and evaluate improvements for effectiveness
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills: friendly and tactful with the ability to influence others, effectively manage conflict, exercise sound judgment, effectively manage highly sensitive and confidential information, interact at all levels within the organization, and build cross-functional partnerships across the business
Employment Requirements:
  • This is an exempt level position whereby business need will dictate the exact work schedule which should be expected to vary at times. Generally, days and hours of work are Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00am-6:00pm
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required, including in excess of 40 hours as business demands dictate
  • Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand
  • The position does not require travel 
  • Constantly operate a computer and other standard office equipment 
  • Talk and hear to exchange accurate information
  • Have close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading
