Position Overview

WET is seeking a full-time, entry-level CAD Specialist to join our Worland Wyoming office in support of water resource management, surveying, and drafting projects across Wyoming. In this role, the successful candidate will assist with field data collection, mapping, surveying, and technical support related to water rights, land development, and water infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will bring knowledge of agricultural operations along with education or experience in surveying, drafting, water rights, water resources, or a related discipline, and a strong interest in applying technical skills to water resource management initiatives. Based in Worland, this position will also contribute to projects across the Rocky Mountain and Pacific regions.

Key Responsibilities

Required Qualifications

• Associate's degree, bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience in hydrology, water resources, civil engineering, natural resource management, or a related field.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Map or Civil 3D, GIS, and spatial analysis tools.
• Experience conducting fieldwork, including survey data collection and water measurement.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed.
• Strong computer and technical skills, including Microsoft 365 and spatial data management tools. 
• Ability to interpret topographic data, aerial imagery, and mapping information. 
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to travel to project sites and remote locations.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and abilities:

• Prior experience with Public Land Survey System (PLSS) preferred. 
• Experience with: 
  • Wyoming water rights 
  • Irrigation systems and agricultural operations 
  • PLSS and survey principles 
  • GPS data collection and field surveying 
  • Reservoir and pond design support 
  • Water measurement and compliance monitoring 
  • Topographic surface development and grading 
  • ESRI ArcGIS or GIS-based spatial analysis 

Work Environment:

• Combination of office and field-based work. 
• Regular outdoor work in varying weather conditions and terrain.
• Must be able to lift 20 pounds. 
• Will require travel and occasional overnight travel may be required.
