Job description

Amentum is seeking an experienced candidate for a Biometrics Technician position in Spokane, WA in support of a Department of Defense (DoD) customer. The candidate will conduct biometric collection and analysis in support of the customer's mission area. The individual will perform the day-to-day operation of a complex computer-based biometric and biographic information collection system; maintain collected data, ensuring it is accurate and meets established requirements; and work on-site, directly with the customer on a daily basis.
Main Responsibilities:
  • Collect biometrics and biographical data using commercial off-the-shelf (COTs) and government off-the-shelf (GOTs) biometrics collection equipment.
  • Provide detailed briefings explaining biometric collection requirements and directing self-collection of biometric samples.
  • Enter data into computer systems via computer terminal with information gained from direct contact with persons being registered.
  • Identify errors or omissions. Take appropriate action to obtain required information or data by conducting research of archival records, computer listings, and other pertinent data for corrective actions. Reconcile any discrepancies.
  • Conduct quality assurance ensuring accuracy and completeness of collected data.
  • Conduct training on the use and operation of portable and fixed registration systems IAW systems' user guides.
  • Conduct technical research on Electronic Biometric Transmission Specification (EBTS) standards to ensure compliance for the government sponsor.
  • Utilize established procedures, formats, and software tools, as necessary, to ensure timely reporting of biometric data for training support and contingency operations.
  • Attend biometrics related courses of instruction and conferences, visit associated or similarly related laboratories and agencies to continually assess the state of existing and emerging biometric technologies, to ensure capabilities do not become stagnant.
  • Provide technical biometric expertise as required in the Research & Development (R&D) and Operational Evaluation (OE) of government programs.
  • Research and update current Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs) ensuring they are in-line with industry specifications.
  • Recommend for purchase, manage, prepare, receive, and inventory COTs and GOTs software and hardware solutions, by researching vendors online and during conferences and/or symposiums for products best suited for employment to meet the requirements of the government sponsor.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret US Government Clearance with SCI eligibility. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain/maintain a Top-Secret Clearance.
  • A minimum 2 years of experience working in the field of Biometrics or Forensics.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to utilize standardized scientific literature and develop effective written reports that are clear, accurate, and logical.
  • The ability to access biometric computer databases and update and retrieve specialized reports.
  • Must possess attention to detail and be able to meet time-critical tasks, perform standardized technical assignments, and work unmonitored.

Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor of Science in Biology, Chemistry, and/or Forensic Sciences or 4+ years of relevant experience working in the field of Biometrics or Forensics. Law enforcement experience is helpful.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.

Other requirements:
  • This is a non-remote, fulltime on-site position, which may occasionally include working outside of normal business hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Some travel is required (0-15%).

Service Contract Act (SCA) Compensation & Benefits:
This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position that falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA). In accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act. The amount you are entitled to receive will vary depending upon the fringe benefits you select now and in the future.
Compensation & Benefits:
HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $35 to $41/hr (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This position includes a competitive benefits package. Benefits to include:
  • Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k.
  • Paid time off (PTO) accrued weekly at 2.31 hours per week. Accruals are based on years of service.
  • 11 Paid holidays.
