Department Summary
The Department of Computer Science at Bridgewater State University (BSU) invites applications for one full-time temporary faculty position in cybersecurity and one full-time temporary faculty position in cybersecurity or computer science. Positions begin September 1, 2026. The successful candidates will join our dynamic and collaborative department, contributing to teaching, advising and service activities.
The Department of Computer Science is a mid-sized, cordial, collaborative, and innovative group of 13 full-time faculty members. The Department prepares students for exciting careers and graduate school through high quality instruction in small classes and close collaboration between faculty members and students on projects. The goal of the Department is to provide students with a strong foundation in computer science and cybersecurity, one that also promotes critical thinking and lifetime learning.
The Department is located in the Dana Mohler-Faria Science and Mathematics Center where faculty and staff work with students in electronics, robotics, and computer labs, as well as a cyber range. BSU serves as a regional center for cybersecurity in Massachusetts. The successful candidate will work with colleagues to support the needs of all students in our inclusive community.The department currently offers an ABET accredited BS in Computer Science and a BS in Cybersecurity & Digital Forensics. Essential Duties
The Department of Computer Science seeks candidates for a 2 full-time, benefited, one (1) year Instructor or Assistant Professor positions. We are looking for equity-minded applicants who demonstrate a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds present in our community. Candidates should demonstrate experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and demonstrate commitment to improving access to higher education for under-represented groups.
Each successful candidate will:
  • Teach 12 contact hours per semester of cybersecurity & digital forensics and/or computer science classes.
  • Advise undergraduates and perform departmental service as required.
  • Possess the ability to use technology effectively in teaching and learning, excellent verbal and written communications skills, as well as a commitment to public higher education.

Successful candidates will be faculty members who can work with their colleagues to help meet the mission of the department in serving and supporting our racially and ethnically diverse campus community.

Required Qualifications
MS in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
Preferred Qualifications
PhD in Cyber Security, Computer Science, or a closely related field is preferred.
Teaching experience is preferred.
Teaching interest in courses such as Intro to Networking, Security Analysis and Reverse Engineering, Applied Cryptography, Computer Forensics, Mobile Device Forensics, Cybersecurity Capstone, Intro to Computer Organization, Organization of Programming Languages, Operating Systems, Software Engineering, Computer Networks, Analysis of Algorithms, and/or Senior Design and Development Seminar is preferred.

Salary is commensurate with experience in accordance with the Appendix O of the MSCA contract. A reasonable starting salary range to expect for a new full-time, temporary faculty member appointed at the rank of Assistant Professor is $65,000 to $75,000.
