Overview

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB is seeking a talented entry-level Data Architect to join our data team. This is an exceptional opportunity for recent graduates or early-career professionals to develop expertise in data architecture, modeling, and systems design while contributing to enterprise-scale data solutions.

This position offers hybrid options from any of VHB's offices, with work hours aligned to the EST time zone. Occasional travel, usually to our headquarters in Watertown, MA, is required.

Please note applicants must be legally authorized to work for VHB in the U.S. without employer sponsorship, now or in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing logical and physical data models that support business requirements and analytical needs.
  • Help document data architecture standards, patterns, and best practices across the organization.
  • Support the evaluation of new data technologies and tools to enhance our data infrastructure and collaborate with data engineers to ensure architectural designs are properly implemented.
  • Design and implement database designs for relational databases.
  • Participate in data governance initiatives, including metadata management and data lineage documentation, while contributing to the development of data integration strategies across multiple systems and platform.
  • Work with business analysts and stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical specifications.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of database concepts, data modeling, and normalization principles
  • Proficiency in SQL and familiarity with relational and non-relational databases
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks and data quality management
  • Ability to understand complex business requirements
  • Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on data quality and integrity
  • Working knowledge of Python and C# programming
  • Familiarity with ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Pipelines, or similar orchestration tools
  • Experience with SQL Server and related suite of technologies (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS), and T-SQL development is preferred
  • Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms such as AWS or Azure is a plus

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 0-2 years of experience with relational databases

The base salary range for this position in Watertown, MA would be between $88,000 - $90,000.

The base salary range for this position in New York would be between $95,000- $98,000.

The base salary range for this position in the Washington DC area would be $88,000 - $90,000

Offers will be determined based on a number of job-related factors including internal comparators, skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity of role responsibilities, and geographic location.
