Job description

Job Description Alabama State University invites applications to fill the position of Glovebox Facility Operator. This position is a Payload Rack Operations Integration Center flight control position that manages the Microgravity Sciences Glovebox (MSG) Rack or the Life Sciences Glovebox (LSG Rack Facility. The Glovebox Racks houses experiments onboard the International Space Station ISS that require multiple levels of containment.

The operators provide real-time support for timeline execution, configurations, and troubleshooting of the facility racks and payloads within. Assignments tend to be of moderate complexity, diversification or expense. The assignments will be in the form of objectives with goals and process to meet goal outlined.

Assignment instructions are normally provided on routine work, and detailed instructions are provided on new project or assignments. Duties and Responsibilities: During the time leading up to real-time operations, the Glovebox Facility Rack Operator is responsible for participating in simulation training, training on the payloads that will be operated in the Racks, and developing the appropriate flight products that will be used during real-time support Holds responsibility for maintaining an in-dept knowledge of the Glovebox Rack and for monitoring and managing its operation during real-time operations to support successful experiment operations Coordinate rack related activities with payload developers and flight controllers at the POIC Keep abreast of in-depth knowledge of the Glovebox Rack and for monitoring and managing its operation during real-time operations to support successful experiment operations Coordinate activities with International Partner payload teams Minimum Qualifications Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, excellent customer service orientation, and negotiation skills are required.
