Job description


BAE Systems is seeking a motivated and adaptable Mechanical Technician to join our dynamic Underwater Systems team in Hudson, New Hampshire. This entry-level role offers an exciting opportunity to learn and contribute to the development of cutting-edge defense technologies for our nation's security.
This position requires full-time, on-site presence at a BAE Systems facility due to the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and the essential nature of on-site work for this role.
As a Mechanical Technician, you will:
  • Perform a variety of production assembly operations on mechanical assemblies and subassemblies, from repetitive tasks to more complex builds.
  • Assist engineers in the development, testing, fabrication, modification, and assembly of mechanical and electro-mechanical components.
  • Fabricate and assemble new or modified mechanical parts and systems based on engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Utilize hand and power tools, jigs, and fixtures. Training will be provided for operation of overhead hoists and forklifts.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including respirator certification and the safe handling of chemicals using appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed full-time on site. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time.

Required Skills and Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret DoW clearance
  • Ability to lift 20-40lbs. consistently.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and follow written process instructions.
  • Familiarity with common hand tools, including wrenches, screwdrivers, tape measures, and calipers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a Engineering / production environment.

  • Solder experience.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Experience in mechanical assembly.
