Job Summary
TOPS SCADAProvide technical support for computer Energy Management (EMS) Systems or Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and other technical infrastructure used in Transmission Operations centers. Position requires a high degree of adaptability, and a focus on meeting customer needs and continuous improvement in the systems supported.Protection and Control SCADAProvide some technical support Assist Protection and Control Engineering (PCE) SCADA Standards and Production activities related to AEP Transmission. Assist in areas of standards development, scoping, RTU setting creation, and implementation troubleshooting. A high ability to organize and coordinate customer needs will be required.
Job Description
What you'll do:
  • TOPS SCADA Provide support/guidance in all Network Model Updates that effect the real-time state estimator system.
  • Maintain reliable operations of the DMS/EMS model systems. Improve and make recommendations to improve the quality and reliability of DMS/EMS model data.
  • Keep DMS/EMS and SCADA tools up to date with current technologies and make recommendations to implement internal DMS/EMS and SCADA model standards
  • Define and implement Human Performance Initiative rules and Key Performance Indicators around EMS SE Model updates
  • Able to identify issues with processes and tools and provide possible solutions and provide input to more seasoned personnel.

What we're looking for:
DMS/EMS/SCADA Analyst Associate SG5
Education:
  • Associate's degree or higher from an accredited college/university in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications or related technical field.
  • Or high school diploma and two years related military or electric utility technical experience.

Experience:
  • No experience necessary with degree or as stated above
  • Education - associate's degree or equivalent technical, utility or military experience
  • Experience- high school diploma and two years related military, technical, or utility experience. **

DMS/EMS/SCADA Analyst SG6
Education:
  • Associate's degree or higher from an accredited college/university in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications or related technical field.
  • Or high school diploma and two years related military or electric utility technical experience.

Experience:
  • Two (2) years of DMS/EMS/SCADA experience with associate's degree and four (4) years of experience with a high school diploma.
  • Individuals with a bachelor's degree with no DMS/EMS/SCADA experience may be considered for entry into the organization at this level.

In addition to the DMS/EMS/SCADA experience noted above:
  • Detailed knowledge is required in one (1) of the following areas: Application development Operating System support Computer system administration Database technologies and support

In addition:
  • Demonstrates a more detailed entry level understanding of operational practices of applicable equipment and software in assigned areas of knowledge
  • Strong skills in communication, issue resolution, organization, and facilitation are essential. Solid understanding of the business unit / operating company systems is preferred.
  • Perform troubleshooting and problem resolution in assigned areas of knowledge with Senior Level guidance. Provide after-hours support for the EMS/SCADA systems as needed. Begin to gain an understanding of current technology utilized by AEP and understanding how it applies to EMS/DMS with Senior Level guidance.
  • Begin to gain an understanding of basic Protection and Control application and the affect it has on overall EMS/DMS with Senior Level guidance.
  • Begins to gain an understanding of what each type of equipment is in the substation with Senior Level guidance.
