Job Description
Turner & Townsend Heery is seeking an Entry-Level Project Engineer/Field Engineer to join our construction management team supporting a Land Port of Entry project in San Diego County. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional interested in building a career in construction and project management on a major public infrastructure program.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support day-to-day construction management and field activities.
  • Track RFIs, submittals, change orders, maintain project calendars, meeting action items, and project documentation.
  • Conduct field walks and assist with documenting construction progress and site conditions.
  • Prepare daily/weekly reports, meeting minutes, photographs, and project records.
  • Assist with schedule, cost, quality, safety, inspection, and contractor coordination.
  • Support project closeout and turnover activities.
  • Coordinate with SANDAG, contractors, consultants, and other project stakeholders.
  • SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 0-3 years of experience; recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Prior construction experience or internships are helpful but not required.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and computer skills.
  • Basic ability to read construction drawings and specifications preferred.
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam, Procore, Primavera P6, or similar construction software is a plus.
  • Ability to work in both a project office and active construction-site environment.

This is an entry-level developmental position offering hands-on experience working alongside experienced construction and project management professionals on the Otay Mesa East Port of Entry, a complex binational transportation and border infrastructure program.
Additional Information
The salary range for this full-time role is $70k-$82K per year. Ranges are determined by role and level and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range is a reflection of base salary only, not of a total compensation package. Please note Turner & Townsend reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on candidate's experience and qualifications.
