This role is part of Blue Origin corporate functions, providing centralized support across Blue Origin business unit teams, functions, and locations.
This position is for our Entry Level Technical Designer Rotation program.
This is an entry-level position for recent trade school graduates with 0 to 3 years' experience. The program starts with 3 months of detail design tool and process training. You then apply that learning across 2 different 2-month design and development projects before moving to your longer term role.
We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!
Responsibilities:
  • Prepare / evolve design layouts, create and maintain detail part and assembly drawings using CAD and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools.
  • Review engineering drawing and designs to ensure alignment to established specifications and standards.
  • Support engineering teams in the development with mechanical layout and detail design and drawing for structural, mechanical, fluids and electronic detail parts and assemblies.
  • Application of relevant company (design, drafting, parts) techniques to plan, lay-out, and maintain data depicting engineering designs (detail, assembly and installation drawings or datasets).
  • Implementation of engineering and manufacturing standard methodologies to achieve a balanced approach to cost, schedule and performance requirements.

Qualifications:
  • 2 year AS degree in Computer Aided Drafting, Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of designing/drafting for aerospace, automotive, marine or applicable structures, mechanical systems, fluid system or electrical systems
  • Bias to learn
  • Mechanical design and integration skills using 3D software
  • Experience managing large CAD assemblies and associated drawings
  • Familiar with existing applicable drafting standards

Desired:
  • Bias for design for manufacturing and assembly
  • Hands on product development interest
  • Experience using PTC Creo CAD tools
  • Experience leading large CAD assemblies and associated drawings
  • Experience using Windchill PLM configuration control tools.

Compensation Range for:
WA applicants is $28.45 - $39.83
