Job description

Supports the GTC Operational Communications team in engineering, design, installation, testing, and maintenance of communication systems across GTC and the Family of Companies. Under the guidance of more senior engineers, assists with fiber optic network design, wireless communications systems, SCADA/telemetry infrastructure, and substation communication equipment. Participates in project planning, field activities, documentation, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) updates. Collaborates with cross-functional teams including FOC and GSOC Network Engineering to create detailed designs, ensure optimal network performance and contribute to the successful implementation of fiber optic projects. This entry-level position is designed to develop engineering competencies through hands-on experience, mentoring, and progressive responsibility in utility communications infrastructure.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Information Systems.

Experience: Entry level up to eighteen months experience in the experience in communications engineering, network design, fiber optics, or a related field. Internship or co-op experience in utility, telecommunications, or engineering environments is preferred. Previous exposure to GIS, AutoCAD, or fiber optic systems is a plus.

Specialized Skills (e.g., typing, computers, software, tools and equipment uses, etc.): Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent organization and time management skills, analytical and creative problem solving skills, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by the work. Must be able to pass a NERC CIP personnel risk assessment screening.
