Summary
Provides assistance to the Principal Investigator and Study Team in coordinating research activities that may include conducting a variety of routine experiments with established methodologies, data collection and management, and other research activities as assigned.
Candidates who are in the process of completing their bachelor's degree have a grace period of six months from their hire date (up to 1 year if starting per diem) to provide degree equivalency verification.

The Channing Division of Network Medicine (CDNM) seeks an entry level Research Associate I (RAI) to perform laboratory work and office duties associated with the Cohorts Biorepository under direct supervision of the Research Lab Manager. This employee will conduct various operational aspects of longitudinal health studies, the Nurses' Health Studies (NHS). These operational responsibilities will largely include questionnaire validation, follow-up, and tissue sample collection/inventory.
Specifically, this employee will obtain consent from study participants to collect/use their medical records and pathology specimens, make sample requests from hospital pathology/radiology departments, and work directly with pathologists and study personnel in research laboratories. This individual will also maintain the database (LIMS) and tracking system (UNIX) with information on participant responses, hospital responses, collection status, and sample use. The RAI will maintain files of correspondences and participant records. This individual will also be responsible for validating responses to bi-annual questionnaires.
The CDNM is a research division within the Department of Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH). The Chronic Disease Epidemiology unit, one of three units within CDNM, includes several of the largest, most intensively studied, longitudinal cohorts in the world, including the Nurses' Health Study (NHS), NHS2, NHS3, and the Growing Up Today Study. Epidemiology of a broad range of complex chronic diseases is the focus these cohorts, using a variety of traditional and novel approaches, including questionnaire-based measures, genomics, metabolomics, and molecular Patho epidemiology.
