Job description

H2M architects + engineers, a multidiscipline architectural, engineering, and environmental consulting firm has an opening for an IT Support Technician. This person will be responsible for installing, maintaining, testing, and repairing computer systems, networks, and components. They will utilize basic technical knowledge to support IT initiatives and provide first-level technical information systems support to the H2M community.   

Job Responsibilities

  • Provides technical applications and related IT support for company-wide software applications, which include testing, troubleshooting and/or analysis.
  • Install, configure, and maintain software applications.
  • Performs routine preventive maintenance on systems software, applications, hardware, networking, and communications.
  • Performs routine technological systems support, maintenance, and testing for proper upkeep of systems; troubleshoots and resolves general system hardware, software, and network failures and conflicts.
  • Assists with the installation, configuration and maintenance of computers, workstations and/or other related equipment and devices.
  • Assists with the implementation of technology projects with moderate scope and impact.
  • Provides individual instruction and/or training to users on new or updated technologies.
  • Maintains and updates record keeping systems and billing information; may document projects and update and maintain user instructions.
  • Assists with tracking inventory of computer equipment, hardware, tools and supplies.
  • Performs data entry and maintenance of records such as, but not limited to, project documents, user instructions, general reports and/or systems errors.
  • Assists with the review, evaluation and recommendation of solutions related to hardware and software acquisitions and/or network updates.
  • Assists with research and development initiatives and in the implementation of new technologies.
  • Maintains currency of knowledge with respect to technology, equipment, applicable laws, regulations, standards and/or systems.
  • Assists with the evaluation and comparison of potential new software applications. 
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Education and Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher and some prior IT experience working in IT support, helpdesk or similar role with computer networks and/or systems maintenance.
  • Knowledge of PC software and systems; technical aptitude; and desire to learn.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and excellent follow-up skills. 
  • Experience managing and supporting remote offices and users is highly desirable.
  • Experience in working within a tech support ticketing system a plus.
  • Working knowledge of a wide range of computer systems software, applications, hardware, networking, and communications.
  • Knowledge of current technological developments and trends, including but not limited to cloud services (i.e. Microsoft 365)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of end users.
  • Ability to provide directions to staff to resolve technological issues.
  • Ability to communicate technical guidance and instruction to end-users on the use of PC applications and systems.
  • Ability to determine, analyze and resolve computer problems.
  • Ability to coordinate hardware, software, and/or network solutions.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry at least 30 lbs.
  • Must be able to occasionally travel to other H2M locations for IT support.

The salary range for this role is $24/hour to $34/hour.
