Position Summary
We are seeking a Designer to work out of our West Allis, WI officeThe Drafter/ Designer role supports engineering by producing and maintaining technical drawings and documentation turbine and generator components. This entry-level position focuses on applying foundational drafting skills, learning company standards, and supporting design execution under supervision. The role contributes to accurate documentation, bill of material creation, and engineering change management. Success is measured by accuracy, adherence to standards, and timely delivery of assigned drafting tasks.
Essential Duties
  • Create detailed mechanical and electrical drawings, layouts, and assemblies using CAD tools
  • Assist in preparing manufacturing drawings, process drawings, and design documentation
  • Maintain bills of material and part records within PDM/ERP systems
  • Follow established drafting standards, procedures, and quality requirements
  • Support engineers and designers by updating drawings and incorporating design changes
  • Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with standards
  • Organize and manage technical documentation and revision history
  • Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, and project teams to support deliverables
  • Learn and apply industry standards, drafting conventions, and internal processes
  • Perform other documentation and drafting support activities as assigned

Education and Required Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associate degree or technical certification in drafting, design, or related field required
  • 0-2 years of experience in drafting, design, or a related technical field; internship or academic project experience are acceptable

Preferred Skills
  • Basic proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks)
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Basic understanding of mechanical design concepts
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools

Physical Requirements
The employee must be able to lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision and Ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
Work Environment
Primarily office-based work using computers and CAD systems with extended periods of sitting and
screen use. Frequent use of hands for keyboard and mouse operation; occasional standing, walking, and reaching. May occasionally work in manufacturing or industrial environments with exposure to noise, temperature variations, and machinery. Adheres to all safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements when in shop or field environments.
