Job Summary
The Machinist I (Level C) has entry level machining training/capability and/or is sufficiently capable of basic machining work across one or more work centers to contribute with oversight of a more experienced machinist (Level B or Level A). This self-driven machinist can be counted upon for efficient, high-quality work that is on-time with minimal waste. The primary function is to produce precision manufacturing tooling, fixtures, and fabricated parts for new machine construction projects.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Comply with the Quality Management System, Company, and departmental procedures
  • Adhere to all safety protocols
  • Demonstrate machining skills, experience, equipment care, and quality of workmanship results in the setup and operation of at least 1 major machining area:
    • Bridgeport millers
    • Bridgeport with Fagor Control
    • manual lathes
    • specialty tooling fabrication (for example mold end-caps, fine extrusion mandrels)
    • fabricate, polish and inspect manufacturing tools
    • Backup CNC Machinist with Master Cam experience
  • Machine set-up and operation of assigned work center(s) such as: Bridgeport millers, manual lathes, grinders, saws, drill press and various other manual machine shop equipment
  • Apply knowledge of appropriate feeds, speeds, and tooling for a range of materials
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics
  • Fabricate metallic and non-metallic parts within tolerances using drawings/specifications
  • Use precision instruments such as micrometers, verniers, gauges, indicators, machinist scales, and optical comparator
  • Maintain equipment in good working condition and operate in a manner that will not cause harm or damage.
  • Preform preventative maintenance (PM) on machines and other company equipment as assigned.
  • Fabricate, polish and inspect manufacturing tools
  • Perform bench work such as filing, de-burring, grinding, and lapping
  • Perform tasks within estimated times while producing good quality parts
  • Lean manufacturing yellow or green belt preferred - minimize waste
  • Maintain tooling records in the business management system
  • Keep machines and work area clean and organized
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Preform various other duties assigned by Supervisor

Education and Experience Requirements
High School or Trade School Diploma, and/or GED Equivalent or 0-5 years' experience in machining or related field with appropriate certifications. Moderate computer skills to navigate internal systems.

  • Novice working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (data entry)
