Location: ITASCA Minneapolis, Minnesota | Full-time - Must be Minneapolis Based - Onsite or Hybrid | $55,000 -$65,000

ITASCA, a renowned international employee-owned engineering company, is seeking a detail-oriented, tech-savvy Staff Accountant to support our Accounting & Finance team. This role is best suited for someone who is comfortable owning core accounting processes, working across systems, and contributing to the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting.

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this role plays a key part in monthly close, reconciliations, AP/AR operations, tax compliance support, and ongoing process improvements. We are looking for someone who is proactive, highly accurate, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and cross-functional collaboration.

Primary Responsibilities:

-Own day-to-day accounting operations including AP, AR, credit card activity, and expense processing

-Manage vendor payments and credit card workflows within RAMP and our ERP system

-Perform detailed reconciliations (bank, vendor, intercompany, and balance sheet accounts)

-Support monthly close activities including journal entries, accruals, and account analysis

-Assist with multi-state sales and use tax filings (MN, CA, and others as applicable)

-Apply customer payments, support AR collections, and reconcile cash activity

-Ensure accuracy of financial data across multiple systems and reporting sources

-Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, SOP documentation, and internal controls

Position Requirements:

-Strong foundation in accounting principles and month-end close processes

-High level of accuracy, accountability, and attention to detail

-Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies

-Comfort working across multiple digital systems and reconciling data between platforms

-Ability to manage competing priorities with consistency and independence

-Clear communicator who collaborates effectively across teams

Required Qualifications:

-Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration required, or equivalent work experience in place of education.

-0-2 years of accounting experience

-Proficiency in Excel and strong ERP system skills

-High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

-Ability to manage multiple priorities and work cross-functionally

-Interest in process improvement and operational efficiency

Preferred Qualifications:

-Experience with Deltek VantagePoint (NetSuite, or similar) and Intuit QuickBooks

-Experience in professional service and/or SaaS, small-medium sized companies

-Exposure to foreign currency transactions or intercompany accounting

Physical Demands:

-Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods

-Frequent use of standard office equipment

-Regular verbal and written communication

Location, Schedule, Environment & Compensation:

-Corporate office environment in Downtown Minneapolis (indoor and climate-controlled)

-Full-time, exempt position

-In-office role, with potential for hybrid flexibility after training

-Extra hours may be required during peak periods such as month-end, year-end close, special projects, or departmental initiatives

-Salary range: $55,000-$65,000 annually, based on experience, qualifications, and skill set
