About JLG, an Oshkosh company
JLG began in 1969, when our founder, John L. Grove set out to resolve growing safety concerns in the construction industry. Since then we have been committed to understanding the challenges and delivering innovative solutions to the access market. We partner with customers to provide quality equipment, training opportunities and trusted support within the access industry. We are a global company, and our products-including mobile elevating work platforms, telehandlers, utility vehicles and accessories-can be found all over the world.
The Manufacturing Engineer Associate at our Jefferson City, TN facility will provide hands-on engineering support to assembly operations, with a focus on improving production performance, reducing downtime, and supporting line resources. This entry-level role will develop and maintain assembly work instructions, track and analyze downtime, and work directly with production and engineering teams to identify and implement line improvements. This is an opportunity to gain hands-on manufacturing engineering experience while making a direct impact on safety, quality, efficiency, and throughput.
YOUR IMPACT
These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.
  • Provide hands-on engineering support to assembly operations, troubleshooting production issues and implementing improvements.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve assembly work instructions to support safe, consistent, and efficient production.
  • Track and analyze production downtime to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities to improve equipment and line performance.
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineers, Production Supervisors, and team members to improve line efficiency, throughput, and overall performance.
  • Evaluate assembly processes, work content, tooling, and line resources to identify and implement improvements.
  • Support engineering changes, new product introductions, and process changes on the manufacturing floor.
  • Assist with the design and implementation of tooling, fixtures, and other manufacturing solutions.
  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles to reduce waste and improve production flow.
  • Prepare basic engineering documentation, layouts, drawings, and reports in accordance with engineering standards.
  • Support projects and improvement initiatives while adhering to established timelines and project requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Operations, Engineering or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS
  • Internship, co-op, or previous hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Exposure to assembly operations, manufacturing processes, or production support.
  • Experience developing or working with manufacturing work instructions.
  • Familiarity with downtime tracking, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience with CAD software and ability to interpret engineering drawings.
  • Strong analytical and hands-on problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with production employees, supervisors, and engineering teams.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The following represents general working conditions for this role. Specific conditions may vary depending on business needs and individual circumstances.
  • This position is based in a manufacturing or production environment and may involve exposure to loud noise, dust, moving machinery, or temperature fluctuations.
  • The role may require standing for extended periods, repetitive motions, lifting items up to 50 pounds, bending, kneeling, climbing, or using tools and equipment.
  • Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn when required.
