Title: Eletrician
Electrician I means a person employed as an apprentice electrician helper or who holds an electrician helper license issued by the State Fire Marshall.
Electrician II means a person employed as an electrician journeyman or one who holds a journeyman electrician license issued by the State Fire Marshall.
Job Summary:
The electrician helps to maintain all aspects of the electrical systems in the county's physical facilities in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of it may be made at all times while ensuring compliance with State and County building codes and state Fire Marshall regulations.
The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed drugs while in the workplace.ย Alcohol and controlled substances which affect employee productivity, safety or judgment in the workplace will not be tolerated.ย ย

  • Maintain existing wiring.
  • Rough in feeders, branch circuits cables, and circuits.
  • Trim out electrical devices and appliances. Install and maintain split-phase motors.
  • Install and maintain capacitor start motors.
  • Install and maintain motor controls.
  • Property ground equipment before use.
  • Use the National Electric Code (NEC) to determine specific requirements for systems.
  • Follow lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Apply safety principles during working operations.
  • Uses climbing equipment.
  • Assumes primary responsibility for safe conditions of light fixtures, electrical apparatuses, fixtures, wiring, air condition and refrigeration units, and similar electrical elements in all facilities.
  • Responsible for the periodic maintenance on all equipment.
  • Assists in inspecting facilities on a regular basis for preventive maintenance and correcting safety hazards.
  • Attends seminars and workshops, as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective function of the work unit including, but not limited to, mowing, snow removal, and moving various items/equipment.
