CNC Machine Operator
Department: Machining
Classification: Non-exempt
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Summary:
CNC Machine Operator produces machined parts by performing a variety of machine operations utilizing CNC machines to cut, shape, or form metal workpieces to specifications by performing the following duties.
Duties but not limited to:
  • Interpret complicated drawings, program sheets, instructions, and process sheets to determine work to be done
  • Perform diversified operations on numerical control machining centers
  • Perform variety of milling, drilling, boring, or related operations to close and interrelated tolerances
  • Review setup sheet and specifications to determine machining sequence and dimensions of finished workpiece
  • Manipulate controls and enter commands to index cutting tool to specified set point and to start machine
  • Observe and listen to machine operation to detect malfunctions such as worn or damaged cutting tools
  • Perform a variety of inspection and gauging operations to insure maintenance of quality standards and specifications
  • Measure workpiece for conformance to specifications
  • Notify supervisor of discrepancies and utilize override control to correct conditions that are out of tolerance or operating unusually
  • Machine materials other than metal, such as composites, plastic, or rubber
  • Clean machine, tooling, and parts and perform machine maintenance
Skills amp; Qualifications but not limited to:
  • High school diploma, GED, or skilled trade certificate
  • Must be able to read and understand written directives; the predominant form of instructions are visual and verbal
  • Knowledge of Odyssey manufacturing software
  • Able to read, write, and use basic math
  • Good interpersonal skills and able to work with others
  • Good attendance
  • Capable of frequently lifting/carrying up to 15 lbs and occasionally up to 45 lbs
  • Able to reach and lift parts, use hands to handle objects, and stand and bend a minimum of 8 hours per day
