Job description

OVERVIEW

The Associate Systems Engineer provides technical support to a large enterprise IT infrastructure, including network, wireless, firewalls, and access control. Working under the guidance of  engineers, this role assists with the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of enterprise systems and network infrastructure, cloud technologies, and security systems.

This role is designed for individuals eager to learn, expand their technical knowledge, and advance their careers in IT infrastructure and systems engineering. The successful candidate will receive hands-on training, mentorship, and opportunities for professional growth while supporting enterprise technologies.

Travel throughout the five boroughs of New York City and reporting to Long Island Head Quarters is required. Role can change to reporting to HQ only.

Salary: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00

                                                                                                                                                                                                               

Work Schedule

The standard work schedule for this position is 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM to support project implementation and operational requirements. During school district breaks, summer months, or as required to support business and project needs, the work schedule will transition to HQ from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Employees are expected to maintain a flexible work schedule and may be required to adjust their hours based on project timelines, operational priorities, maintenance windows, emergency response, or other business needs.

Responsibilities may include staging and configuration in the configuration center, distribution and other project initiatives based at HQ.      

                                                                                                                                                                                                               

What You'll Do: 

  • Assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Cisco and Cisco Meraki network infrastructure, including switches, wireless access points, and firewalls.
  • Support the deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting of wired and wireless network connectivity.
  • Perform monitoring tasks to identify issues and escalate issues to senior engineering staff.
  • Provide Tier I and Tier II technical support for infrastructure, networking, and endpoint-related issues.
  • Perform hardware installations, equipment replacements, and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Assist with patch management, firmware updates, system backups, and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Install, and organize cable management standards in IDFs, and MDFs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including network diagrams, asset inventories, technical procedures, and support documentation.
  • Participate in infrastructure projects and technology deployments.
  • Provide professional customer service and communicate effectively with clients and team members.
  • Provide second shift support for project integrations during maintenance windows as required.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and participate in technical training and certification programs.
  • Travel throughout the five boroughs of New York City and HQ located in Long Island to support infrastructure installation, maintenance, and engineering projects.

 

What You Bring: 

Required

  • 2-3 years of experience in IT support, networking, systems administration, or infrastructure engineering.
  • Microsoft or CompTIA certifications (Network+, Security+)
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, networking fundamentals, DNS, DHCP, switching, routing, and wireless technologies.
  • Familiarity with Cisco networking and Cisco Meraki solutions.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Windows, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and Windows Server environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience patching Cat6/Cat6A and fiber optic cabling.
  • Ability to lift 10 pounds or more and transport equipment and safely use ladders when required.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel throughout Long Island and the five boroughs of New York City.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's or Associates degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification is preferred at the time of hire and required within 6 months of employment.
  • Cisco Meraki Solution Specialist certification
  • Microsoft 365 Fundamentals certification
  • Familiarity with access control, surveillance, audiovisual, or low-voltage systems.
