Job description

Job Summary:
Responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing mainframe applications using COBOL, Assembler, and associated technologies. Ensures efficient system operation, testing, debugging, and documentation while collaborating with business analysts and other technical teams to meet business requirements.
Location: Jersey City, NJ - Onsite (Local candidates only)
Key Responsibilities:
  • Create, modify, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, Assembler, or other relevant languages.
  • Ensure efficient operation of central processing systems, including updates and enhancements.
  • Perform unit testing, debugging, and troubleshooting of software applications.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, system engineers, and other developers to align mainframe solutions with business requirements.
  • Create and maintain technical specifications, user manuals, and support documentation.
  • Optimize applications for performance and efficiency.

Required Skills & Experience:
  • Proficiency in COBOL, JCL, SQL, and Assembler.
  • Experience with CICS, DB2, VSAM, z/OS, ISPF, and mainframe utilities.
  • Strong understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), batch and online processing, data analysis, and system integration.

Competencies:
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong collaboration and communication with technical and business teams.
  • Attention to detail and documentation skills.

Preferred Skills:
  • System Z - CICS system administration experience.
  • Enterprise COBOL development experience.
  • DB2 application development experience.
