Overview

Consider joining the Pennex family as a CAD Drafter at our Leetonia, OH location. This role is responsible for using specialized software to create precise and detailed technical drawings and plans for various industries, including engineering, manufacturing, and floor plans. The CAD Drafter will convert conceptual designs, rough sketches, and engineering specifications into accurate and dimensionally precise drawings.

Responsibilities
  • Drafting and Design: Creates precise and accurate technical drawings, schematics, and plans based on the specifications provided by engineers or designers. This position uses CAD software to convert conceptual ideas and rough sketches into detailed, dimensionally accurate drawings. 
  • Interpretation: Needs to understand and interpret engineering drawings, as well as written specifications and design standards. Ensure drawings comply with industry standards and regulations. 
  • Collaboration: Works closely with engineers, project managers, and other professionals to refine and modify drawings to meet project requirements. Effective communication and teamwork are essential in this role. 
  • Documentation: Creates and maintains detailed documentation of drawings and revisions. This documentation is crucial for project records, quality control, and future reference. 
  • Problem-Solving: Identifies and resolves design and drafting issues that arise during the project, ensuring that drawings are both technically feasible and functional. 
  • Software Proficiency: Proficient in using CAD software tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or other industry-specific software programs. 
  • Quality Control: Verifies the accuracy and completeness of their drawings, ensuring that all dimensions, scale, and notations are correct. 
  • Updates and Revisions: Makes revisions to drawings as project requirements change or errors are discovered. They must manage and maintain updated versions of drawings. 
  • Compliance: Ensures that all drawings comply with relevant codes, industry standards, and regulations. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 
Qualifications

Education and Experience: 

  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent 
  • Desired: Associate's Degree in Drafting or Related Field 
  • 2 years of experience in CAD Drafting recreating and applying tolerances to machined or formed parts.
  • 3D experience is required.

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Proficiency in CAD software is essential. Familiarity with AutoCAD for floor plans or SolidWorks for mechanical design preferred 
  • Effective communication skills are important for collaborating with team members and engineers
  • The ability to identify and resolve design and drafting issues
  • A desire to work in a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment 
  • Highly motivated, self-driven, and eager to learn and apply new skills 
  • Attentive to details and follows through on assigned tasks and commitments 
  • Flexible and driven to meet tight deadlines, handle multiple projects and prioritize them appropriately 
  • Strong organizational skills, and ability to effectively disseminate information in a clear and concise manner

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen
