Job description

Position Summary

We are partnering with an innovative gene therapy organization in the RTP area seeking a Senior Scientist to support bioanalytical and molecular biology research activities. This individual will play a key role in executing and optimizing a variety of molecular and cellular assays focused on DNA, RNA, proteins, and cell-based systems. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, experience in fast-paced biotech environments, and a collaborative, solution-oriented mindset.


Key Responsibilities

  • Execute molecular biology experiments involving nucleic acids, proteins, and mammalian or bacterial cell systems.
  • Perform and troubleshoot techniques including PCR, qPCR, ddPCR, cloning, sequencing, plasmid preparation, CE, ELISA, SDS-PAGE, and Western blotting.
  • Design, clone, evaluate, and optimize AAV GOI plasmid constructs.
  • Develop, refine, and document laboratory assays, workflows, and experimental procedures.
  • Maintain laboratory inventory, reagents, and instrumentation to support efficient lab operations.
  • Review current scientific literature and incorporate emerging molecular biology methodologies as appropriate.
  • Support additional laboratory and research activities as needed.


Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s, Masterโ€™s, or PhD degree in Life Sciences or a related scientific discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant hands-on molecular biology experience in a laboratory setting.
  • Strong expertise in recombinant DNA cloning, plasmid isolation, and molecular analysis techniques.
  • Experience with large-scale plasmid DNA preparation and ITR-containing plasmids.
  • Proficiency with analytical and molecular techniques including PCR, qPCR, ddPCR, CE, ELISA, SDS-PAGE, and Western blotting.
  • Experience developing SOPs, laboratory protocols, and analytical procedures.
  • Working knowledge of GLP, GCLP, or related quality standards.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, SoftMax, JMP, and GraphPad Prism.
