Alta Forest Products in partnership with Itochu Building Products is the world's largest producer of wood fence boards, specializing in Western Red Cedar and other premium species found in the Pacific and Inland Northwest forests. In addition to producing fence boards and pallet stock lumber, Alta's zero-wood-waste sawmills produce by-products such as wood chips, sawdust, mulch, and biofuel.


Headquartered in centrally located Chehalis, Washington, Alta operates in multiple Northwest rural communities including Morton, WA; Winlock, WA; Shelton, WA; Amanda Park, WA; Lewiston ID; Bonners Ferry, ID; and Naples, ID.


The Role

This is an entry level labor position, responsible for quickly and efficiently separating and stacking finished lumber in carts to help complete and fulfill orders. Excellent opportunities for advancement.


Starting pay $21.75 per hour plus $1.50/hr. shift differential, if applicable. Work schedule: Monday - Thursday, 10-hour shifts.


This position is classified as “safety-sensitive,” meaning that an accident in this role could result in loss of life, serious bodily injury, or significant damage to property or the environment, as such candidates will be subject to comprehensive pre-employment drug screening, inclusive of marijuana (THC).


Position Type

This is a full-time position and overtime work may be required as projects or job duties demand.


Responsibilities

  • Pulling lumber that comes off a conveyor belt
  • Sorting lumber by size, grade, and species
  • Stack lumber into carts
  • General labor and clean up
  • Meet Productivity goals while maintaining safety in every aspect of the job
  • Other duties as assigned


Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in industrial/manufacturing setting is a plus
  • Effectively be able to communicate through written and verbal forms of communication
  • Understand and carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Capable of performing basic two-digit addition and subtraction
  • Comfortable working in varying weather, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Minimum age of 18
