About the Role:
The Process Engineer plays a key role in supporting our paper mill operations by driving process optimization, executing improvement initiatives, and leading trials that impact safety, quality, and efficiency. This role is highly hands-on, with a strong focus on data analysis and problem-solving. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a desire to learn and grow in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
This position collaborates closely with Process Engineering, Environmental, and Operational areas to reduce losses, improve chemical usage, and support digital upskilling initiatives across the mill.
What You're Going to Do:
  • Lead and support process improvement initiatives, including troubleshooting quality or efficiency issues.
  • Coordinate and execute production trials and data collection.
  • Analyze process data and generate actionable insights using tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, Minitab, and Power BI.
  • Recommend and test new chemicals or equipment in collaboration with vendors and production teams.
  • Monitor key operating parameters and identify opportunities for optimization.
  • Work closely with operators, managers, and other engineers to ensure process reliability and innovation.
  • Support digital transformation efforts through data projects and dashboard development.
  • Maintain strong communication across shifts and departments to align on priorities.
  • Manage multiple tasks simultaneously, demonstrating effective time management and prioritization.

What We Expect from You:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering preferred; other degrees in Engineering (Paper Science, Mechanical, or Electrical) also considered.
  • 2-3 years of experience in manufacturing is preferred; entry-level candidates with strong potential will be considered.
  • Prior experience in pulp and paper is a strong plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and PowerPoint); familiarity with Power BI, Minitab, or other data analysis tools is a strong advantage.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Willingness to work variable hours, including early starts and occasional late shifts when needed.
  • High self-motivation and a proactive approach to learning and problem-solving.
