POSITION SUMMARY:
We are currently looking for an Accounting Associate to join our Corporate Finance and Accounting team. The Accounting Associate will be responsible for a variety of corporate accounting functions. The Accounting Associate will be responsible for processing accounts payable which will require being in our Hallowell Maine office. Other responsibilities include journal entry posting, depositing checks to bank, accounts receivable posting, account reconciliations, assisting with annual audit documentation collection as well as other clerical and accounting duties as necessary. In addition, he/she will serve as a backup to other finance staff when needed.
This is an entry-level position, ideal for a recent college or technical school graduate.
The successful candidate will be a creative and resourceful thinker who is energetic, self-motivated, and eager to take on new challenges. This individual should be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and the public are essential. The ideal candidate will demonstrate flexibility, strong organizational and time-management skills, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing needs.
LOCATION AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: The primary location of this position is hybrid, at least 1-2 days per week in the office. This position may require periodic meetings, conferences, training, and other-business-related events held in various public places (e.g., hotel conference rooms).
PAY GRADE: Grade 2 (Maine pay range: $42,000-$53,000, non-exempt).
Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting, business or financial related field is required.
  • Associate's degree or equivalent related work experience.
  • Preferred experience with general ledger and accounts payable duties.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and attention to detail are essential.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and active listening skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across teams.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in current Microsoft Office applications is required.
    Preferred Expertise / Skills
  • Nonprofit experience is preferred, with a strong preference for someone who has operated in a fast-growing environment with limited budgets and resources.
  • Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT or similar financial management software is preferred.
