Position Summary:
The Staff Accountant (Entry Level) is responsible for performing a variety of general accounting tasks to support the Finance Department. This role contributes to the accuracy and integrity of financial records through account reconciliations, journal entries, and assistance with monthly closings. The Staff Accountant plays a key role in maintaining compliance with company policies and applicable regulations while supporting the overall financial health of the organization.
Essential Functions:
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accuracy and appropriate supporting documentation
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and general ledger account reconciliations
  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings
  • Maintain fixed asset records and calculate depreciation
  • Maintain prepaid account records and calculate amortization
  • Prepare financial reports, schedules, and supporting documentation for audits
  • Provide support to accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions as needed
  • Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and issues
  • Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field (e.g., Business with an Accounting concentration)
  • Up to 2 years of general accounting experience, including internships, co-ops, or academic research roles
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills

Preferred:
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Sage, NetSuite)
  • CPA candidate or CPA certification
