AWS Directory Service is a fully managed service that allows customers to set up and run directories in the AWS cloud, or to connect AWS resources with their existing on-premises Active Directory. It’s a high-scale, highly available distributed system supporting sub-second latency micro-services to a large growing customer base. We support the scale of millions of requests per second and the service needs to be always available. As a managed offering, we take care of building and maintaining a secure, complex, highly available directory topology for our customers to easily manage their users, groups and resources. We also facilitate automated monitoring, fail-over and recovery, along with automated patching, updates and replication.

As a Software Development Engineer, you’ll be part of a team in a fast-paced environment that has the entrepreneurial feel of a start-up. Key job responsibilities

  • Design and implement core identity infrastructure components including control plane APIs, data plane execution environments, and deployment orchestration systems
  • Design and implement scalable, highly available services
  • Develop monitoring, observability, and operational tooling to ensure production reliability and enable rapid incident response
  • Contribute to technical strategy and architecture decisions for session management, identity/permissions, cross-account access, and security integrations
  • Mentor junior engineers and drive engineering excellence through code reviews, design reviews, and operational best practices

Basic Qualifications
  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
  • 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
  • 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
