LAPORTE is seeking a Refrigeration Engineer with 1 to 2 years of experience in industrial refrigeration system design and analysis.

This hybrid position is available in all of our office locations in Canada.

Reporting to the Lead Engineer, our Refrigeration Engineer will contribute to the design, analysis, and implementation of refrigeration systems for food & beverage, pharmaceutical, and biotech process systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate on the design and analysis of refrigeration plants and systems;
  • Perform CAD drafting of refrigeration system schematics and layouts in AutoCAD;
  • Supervise and perform drafting of refrigeration system schematics and layouts in Revit and/or Plant3D;
  • Conduct safety and code compliance audits;
  • Participate in developing refrigeration-related SOPs, HAZOPS, and other safety analyses;
  • Conduct site inspections of refrigeration systems;
  • Write, format, and proofread specifications, proposals, reports, templates, and other documents;
  • Organize and maintain project records;
  • Provide support and build relationships with new and existing clients;
  • Collaborate with internal and external team members to ensure project success.

Requirements:

  • 1 to 2 years of experience in industrial refrigeration system design and analysis;
  • Member of a canadian provincial Engineering Association either as P.Eng or EIT
  • Familiarity with ammonia and CO2 refrigeration systems;
  • Knowledge of refrigeration and piping codes and standards;
  • Degree or diploma in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or relevant qualifications in a related field;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively;
  • Proficiency in technology-driven communication tools;
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word and Excel;
  • Energetic, motivated, and solutions-oriented;
  • Ability to travel internationally;
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license;
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, Plant 3D, and P&ID software packages (an asset).
