The Commercial Insuarnce Producer serves as a trusted resource for individuals and families by delivering personalized insurance solutions. This role is responsible for advising clients on personal insurance products, building and maintaining client relationships, and supporting the growth of a developing book of business. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, service‑driven, and motivated to grow within a collaborative, fast‑paced insurance environment.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Proactively identify and acquire new commercial insurance business through outbound calls, emails, networking, referrals, and in‑person appointments.
  • Conduct client and prospect consultations to analyze business operations, risk exposures, and insurance needs.
  • Present insurance proposals, renewals, and coverage options, clearly explaining terms, limits, deductibles, and pricing.
  • Submit, rate, quote, and bind new and renewal business in accordance with agency standards and carrier underwriting guidelines.
  • Assemble and submit accurate, complete insurance applications and underwriting documentation, including loss runs and exposure data.
  • Collaborate with insurance carriers, internal marketing teams, and service teams to negotiate coverage terms and pricing.
  • Develop professional insurance proposals and maintain ongoing communication throughout the sales and renewal process.
  • Support cross‑selling opportunities through coordination with Commercial Lines, Personal Lines, and other agency departments.
  • Build and maintain strong, long‑term relationships with clients, prospects, and carrier partners.
  • Achieve established sales and production goals.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the agency management system and CRM platforms (e.g., AMS360 or equivalent).
  • Complete required activity, pipeline, and production reports and attend agency sales and training meetings.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, insurance products, and regulatory requirements through continuing education and community involvement.
  • Comply with all state licensing, continuing education, and insurance regulatory requirements.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by agency management.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSA’s):

  • Working knowledge of commercial lines insurance products and policy structures.
  • Ability to evaluate risk exposures and recommend appropriate insurance solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and consultative sales skills.
  • Ability to prospect, qualify leads, and maintain a developing book of business (typically under $250k).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and agency management / CRM systems.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team‑based environment.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Active Property & Casualty insurance license (state‑specific).
  • Limited to no prior experience in a producing or sales role required (experience preferred but not mandatory).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows and related business applications.
  • Ability to travel locally during business hours (up to approximately 60%).
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license and minimum state‑required auto insurance.
