Job description

Put your audio/video skills to work in a high-demand professional career within the legal industry. We are seeking a detail-oriented individual with audio/visual experience to join our team as a Digital Reporter. In this role, you will use professional digital audio equipment to capture the verbatim record of depositions and other legal proceedings. 

Ideal candidates may come from backgrounds in AV production, live events, broadcasting, podcasting, recording technology, media operations, livestreaming, or other technical production environments.  

Entry Level - No prior reporting experience required. We provide you with all the support you need to be successful.  

Digital Reporters (DR)’s are not shorthand reporters or stenographers, and no stenographic tools or training is required. 


Responsibilities: 

  • Setting up and operating professional digital audio equipment in legal proceedings  
  • Capturing clear, high-quality recordings using professional audio technology 
  • Monitoring audio quality and recording integrity throughout proceedings 
  • Troubleshooting audio/video and connectivity issues as needed 
  • Managing the proceedings as an independent arbiter of the record 
  • Swearing in witnesses and acting as Notary of the State 
  • Typing detailed, accurate annotations of case events and terminology to support transcription 


Requirements: 

  • Obtain your own approved digital audio equipment 
  • Obtain state notary 
  • Complete quality development program 
  • Have a minimum typing speed of at least 45 wpm 
  • Familiarity with audio/video equipment, recording technology, livestreaming, production, broadcasting, or related technical fields preferred
