FLSA Status: Non-Exempt


Summary

The level of Mechanical Assembler (i.e.: I, II, etc.) is dependent upon years of experience and applicable skill level in performing required tasks inside the department from the most basic essential duties to the more complex duties as determined by management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities All skills are dependent upon level and include the following with other duties as assigned.

  • Perform a variety of moderate to complex production and/or assembly operations
  • Utilize diagrams, drawings, work orders, oral and/or written instructions to assemble products and sub-assemblies.
  • Read, interpret and abide by shop processes.
  • Knowledge of and understand in BMS, BAC and other types of aerospace specifications.
  • Consistently produce high level of quality craftsmanship.
  • Troubleshoot and problem solve based upon skill level
  • Work with other department personnel to resolve issues/problems.
  • Knowledge of and understand the use of:
    • Tools and machines: screw drivers, drills, clamps, vices, knives, gauges, scales, temperature recorders, etc.
    • Materials: adhesives, laminates, fiberglass/resins, potting compound.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Position requires basic job-related courses or training in a non-technical or vocational field.
  • Experience in any and/or all of the following areas: mechanical assembly, final assembly, seat assembly, bonding, aircraft interiors.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints.

Driving:

This position may require you to drive a company vehicle which will require a clean driving record. As a pre-employment contingency and prior to being appointed in this role you will be required to present a valid Washington State Driver’s license and may need to provide Jamco America with a current driving record from the state of Washington’s Motor Vehicles office documenting your current driving record status within the past three years. Position may also require that you submit to periodic screening of your driving record.

Level Definition

An “area” is defined as separate sections of each operational department where different functions are performed such as Sub-Assembly, Potting & Sanding, Panel Lay-up, ATP, etc. All areas are not available throughout all operational departments.

Level I

Under close supervision trains to assemble and rework units in a production environment. Utilizes visual aids, drawings, and oral/written instructions to assemble products.

This is the entry level assembler position with no experience required.

Level II

Will perform a variety of moderately complex production assembly operations. Can read diagrams, drawings, and work orders. Will use diagrams/drawings/work orders along with oral/written instructions to assemble products and sub-assemblies with occasional supervision. Effectively uses a variety of hand tools or production equipment. Possesses and relies upon problem solving skills to perform troubleshooting. Is cross trained in many of the area processes. Has a basic understanding of using BMS, BAC, JMS and other types of specifications.

This is the intermediate level assembler position typically requiring 1 year of assembly experience.
