Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and mission-focused Linguist to support language analysis, translation, and cultural expertise for the U.S. Intelligence Community. The ideal candidate is fluent in one or more critical foreign languages, demonstrates exceptional accuracy, and can work effectively within secure environments. This role directly supports national security missions by providing linguistic, cultural, and analytical insights to government and intelligence professionals.

Key Responsibilities

Language Translation & Interpretation

  • Perform high-quality translation of written, audio, and digital materials from the target language into English and vice versa.
  • Provide consecutive or simultaneous interpretation during meetings, briefings, or mission events as required.
  • Ensure translations maintain meaning, context, cultural nuance, and technical accuracy.

Language & Cultural Analysis

  • Analyze foreign-language content to identify key information, thematic relevance, and contextual insights.
  • Offer cultural expertise to support analytic assessments, operations, and briefings.
  • Assist government personnel in understanding regional dialects, idiomatic expressions, and socio-cultural references.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare written summaries, transcripts, and analytical notes derived from foreign-language materials.
  • Maintain accurate and organized linguistic files in accordance with IC documentation standards.
  • Support the preparation of briefings, reports, and presentations related to language findings.

Collaboration & Mission Support

  • Work closely with analysts, collectors, and operational personnel to meet mission priorities.
  • Respond to taskings and linguistic requirements promptly and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
  • Participate in training, proficiency testing, and continuing education to maintain and enhance language skills.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph
  • Native or near-native proficiency in at least one critical foreign language (e.g., Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Farsi, Korean, Pashto, Dari, Somali, etc.).
  • Strong English writing and speaking skills, with demonstrated ability to produce accurate translations.
  • Experience in translation, interpretation, or linguistic analysis-preferably in a government, military, or intelligence setting.
  • Excellent attention to detail, linguistic accuracy, and cultural understanding.
  • Ability to work on-site in a secure facility and handle sensitive information appropriately.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience supporting the Intelligence Community, DoD, or federal agencies.
  • Familiarity with IC language processing tools, analytic systems, or reporting formats.
  • Advanced degrees or coursework in linguistics, international studies, regional studies, or related fields.
  • Additional language proficiencies or multi-dialect expertise.
  • ACTFL proficiency certification or equivalent.
